The cable connector is designed for the linking of multi-way cables (200,200') having up to 122 pairs of wires. The construction of the connector makes it suitable for use in rugged terrains and in inhospitable environments. It can for example, be used to link apparatus in geophysical systems. The connector is in two identical halves (100,100') each of square profile and each provided with four circular multiway plugs (111,111',120,120') capable of joining sixty wires. Two of the plugs in each half are made and two female and they are arranged symmetrically. The two male plug halves in each connector half are equipped with tightening rings combined with levers (130,130'). These can be rotated, using the individual plug sheaths as axes by squeezing them towards the connector body. Each connector half has two additional two-wire sockets (140,150') for the attachment of an auxiliary two-prong plugs which connect monitoring or control circuits, for example a telephone link. Multiway cables with a larger number of cores can be connected by using two connectors in tandem.
