The equipment supports the human body for neuroradiological examination allowing qualitative and quantitative information to be obtained by tomodensitometry, stereotaxy and stereoscopy to define the coordinates of all points of the brain. It consists of an adaptable support which maintains the patient's head in a Talairach type stereotaxy frame whatever the morphology of the skull and without restricting the operating field. A reference equipment fixed to the support defines the spatial contours of a lesion and permits biopsies without being dismantled. The support has a central piece in the form of a cross with four equal branches. Each branch has two guiding sleeves for two columns supporting, at their upper part, an arm which lies parallel to the imaginary axis passing through the centre of the cross and corresponding to the axis of symmetry of the appts.. The end of each arm is crossed by a percussive point whose end is oriented towards the interior of the device for implantation into the patient's cranium. The manipulation of these four points is effected by a polished button integral with a threaded rod. Two of the four rods, controlling the sliding movement of the columns in the guiding sleeves, enter tapped holes in a dynamometric plate. The other two, which are diametrically opposed, enter a floating nut between joints in a cavity in the thickness of the plate. An electroluminescent diode indicates the degree of tightening.
