The durable container or case with a lid has a monoshell sandwich construction, its walls comprising a rigid core (10) with a layer (11,12) of reinforced resin on each side. Metal 'U' sections (13,33) house on to the edge of the core to form the edges of the case or lid proper, their external leg faces being covered by the extremities of the resin layers. Dovetail section grooves (21,22) in the external leg faces provide a resin anchor, projecting armouring and feet being fixed between the core and the outer resin layer. Manufacture entails placing the resin on core panelling after the metal 'U' sections have been installed. Initial fixing of the sections may use adhesive (16), and the bases of the sections may complement one another i.e. have tongue (40) and groove (41) formations.
