This device is designed to facilitate the aspiration of pathological fluid from the chest and abdominal cavities via a closed system. The needle sleeve protruding from the end of cannula (A) is inserted through the skin and when in the required position the needle is withdrawn into the cannula by means of the screw (D) within the housing (B) the whole apparatus then being secured to the skin by means of the plastic coating (J) on the circular flange (H). With flow regulator (G) closed and tap (N) opened the concertina bag is evacuated, tap (N) is then closed and the hole (O) is located on the hook (T) to create negative pressure within the bag. Flow regulator (G) is then opened and fluid allowed to run into the bag from the body cavity in the required quantity. After drainage drugs may be introduced via injection port (F) into the body cavity once flow regulator (G) has been closed the apparatus is then withdrawn from the chest or abdominal cavity. IMAGE
