AGENT FOR INHIBITING INCREASE OF WATER CONTENT IN OPEN-AIR STORAGE OF COAL

PURPOSE:An agent for inhibiting increase in water content that contains an oil- in-water, cationic resin emulsion as an active ingredient, thus preventing rain water from soaking in coal stored in open air and also preventing coal hills from collapsing in heavy rain. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent for inhibiting increase in water content contains a cationic, oil-in-water type resin emulsion which is obtained by emulsion copolymerization of a cationic monomer such as (meth)acryloyloxyethyltrimethylammonium chloride and a hydrophobic monomer such as vinyl acetate or an acrylic acid ester or by emulsion polymerization of the above-mentioned hydrophobic monomer in the presence of a cationic surfactant, preferably lauryltrimethyl ammonium chloride. The inhibitor is used in 5-10% concentration based on the resin, in general, and 25-200g of the inhibitor, calculated as the resin, is applied to 1m2 of the coal surface.
