PURPOSE:To cool a specimen within a short time and to facilitate the exchange of the specimen, by forming such constitution that the space between an stainless outer cylinder and an stainless inner cylinder hermetically sealed by the flange parts thereof are evacuated and liquid nitrogen is injected into the inner cylinder to cool the specimen fixed to the bottom surface of the inner cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A stainless outer cylinder 1 and a stainless inner cylinder 2 are hermetically sealed through flange parts 6, 6' each equipped with packing rubber and the space between the outer cylinder 1 and the inner cylinder 2 is evacuated through a vacuum communication pipe 7 while liquid nitrogen 3 is injected into the inner cylinder 2 to cool the specimen 5 attached to the bottom surface of the inner cylinder 2 through a heat sink 4. An infrared absorption spectrum is measured through the infrared ray pervious window 8 provided to the outer cylinder 1. By this mechanism, the specimen 5 is cooled within a short time and the exchange of the specimen is easily performed only by detaching the flange parts 6, 6'.
