PURPOSE:To analyze quickly and accurately antimony in white metal without affected by coexisting elements by adding a fixed quantity of sulfuric acid and potassium sulfate to a sample to dissolve by heating, and analyzing by an atomic absorption spectrometry method. CONSTITUTION:10ml sulfuric acid and 2g potassium sulfate are added to 0.1g sample containing antimony and said solution is decomposed by heating, and 40ml water is added after cooling. The solution containing antimony is separated and it is measured (217.6nm) by an atomic absorption photometer using a fixed quantity of said 100ml solution. Recovery of antimony is lowered by increasing the additional quantity of sulfuric acid and the recovery of antimony is increased by increasing the additional quantity of potassium sulfate. Accordingly, sulfuric acid and potassium sulfate are added in a fixed quantity. The recovery of antimony is lowered by coexistence of copper but no significant difference is recognized by the additional quantity of copper. Tin has no affect on it substantially.
