PURPOSE:To measure the concn. of hydrogen sulfide in gas contg. hydrogen sulfide by conducting said gas into oxidative reaction liquid, measuring the oxidation reduction potential of the reaction liquid and comparing and making comparative calculation of said potential with the oxidation reduction potential of the standard gas having the known concn. of the hydrogen sulfide incorporated therein and determined beforehand. CONSTITUTION:A drain cock 3 is closed and an stop cock 11 of a tank 10 for a reagent soln. is opened after washing of a measuring cell 1 to fill a specified volume of a reagent soln. having a known concn. in the cell 1, when an oxidation reduction potentiometer 7 is turned on to measure the oxidation reduction potential of the reagent soln. itself. Standard gas for measuring the concn. of gaseous hydrogen sulfide is introduced into the reagent soln. in the cell 1, and the oxidation reduction potential thereof is measured at every specified time. The reagent soln. brought into reaction with the standard gas is discarded and thereafter the inside of the cell is washed. The reagent soln. having the the known concn. is filled in a specified volume in the cell 1 in succession to the washing, whereafter sample gas is introduced into the reagent soln. in the cell 1 and the oxidation reduction potential thereof is measured at every specified time. The measured value and the calibration curve determined beforehand by using the standard gas are compared and the concn. of the hydrogen sulfide in the sample gas is calculated.
