The accumulated solid materials are scraped onto a fine meshed screen 4 and are drained, whereafter said materials are removed. The BOD and COD in the sewage can be removed by 40% in the 1st set by the ruggedness 7 (coral sand, etc.) stuck with living things provided on the wall under the water surface in the tank body. Many plates 18 provided with much ruggedness on the front and rear and stuck with living things are disposed in the biological treatment tank in the 1st biological treatment tank 14, and much ruggedness 20 is provided on the circuimferential wall under the water surface. Air is fed from an air diffusion pipe 17 to the plates 18 to propagate bacteria, whereby the BOD and COD in the sewage are removed by 60%.
