PURPOSE:To weld an end ring to a rotor conductor with a high quality and high efficiency, by supplying alternately a welding current to an unconsumable electrode and consumable electrode which are installed adjacently and performing the welding with the consumable electrode while the end ring is locally heated with the unconsumable electrode. CONSTITUTION:A cage rotor of an induction motor is constituted in such a way that numerous pieces of rotor conductor 2 inserted into the outer periphery of a circular iron core 1 at a regular interval are joined with an end ring 3 fitted to a shaft 4. To join the above mentioned rotor conductor 2 (2a, 2b...) to the end ring 3 by welding, an unconsumable electrode 9 of W, etc., is put between the two rotor conductor pieces 2a and 2b and a wire 10 of a consumable electrode is put adjacent to the unconsumable electrode 9, and then, an arc is generated between the wire 10 and the end ring 3 by supplying a welding current alternately to both the electrodes through an inversion circuit (not shown in the diagram). Therefore, the unconsumable electrode 9 heats the end ring 3 and the wire 10 is fed to a fillet part 6 to form a weld zone 5, and thus, the welding is performed.
