PURPOSE:To obtain a compact automatic focusing 35mm. camera, by arranging a lens position controller in specific space in a camera body, and positioning a range finding device along the top wall of a spool storage chamber which is lowered by one stage. CONSTITUTION:The upper wall 3a of the spool storage chamber 3 is lower than the upper wall 2a of a cartridge chamber 2 which is normally irreducible and necessary, and the distance measuring device 27 is arranged along the upper wall 3a. The space 34 surrounded with a dark box 8, the distance measuring device 27 over it, and the left and right cartridge chambers 2 and spool storage chamber 3 is formed in the camera body 1, and the lens position controller 35 is arranged therein. Consequently, neither range finding device 27 nor the position controller 35 projects from the camera body and the camera height is reduced greatly to obtain the compact automatic focusing 35mm. camera.
