BOOT STRUCTURE OF CUBIC BODY OF SUBMARINE CABLE REPEATER OR JOINT BOX FOR OPTICAL SUBMARINE CABLE

PURPOSE:To prevent bending of a boot from concentrating on one point, by installing a boot insert composed of plural rings and wire rods coupling them with each other so that an optical submarine cable is surrounded in the rubber part of the boot. CONSTITUTION:When a vertical force is applied to the axis of a boot from the direction shown by the arrow, tension and bending are applied to wire rods 13c and 14c at the upper side of the axis of a boot insert. On the other hand, the compressive force applied to wire rods at the lower part of the axis is not so strong as the tension applied to the wire rods 13c and 14c, because the free end side of each wire rod at the lower side is fixed by nuts 13e and 14e but they are not fixed with each ring 13b and 14b with a rigid structure. Moreover, a rubber part put in each ring 13a, 14a, 13b, and 14b is compressed, but, since it forms a sandwich structure with the rings, the deformation is not large when compared with the case where the part is composed only of rubber and the bending is not concentrated on one point. Therefore, an optical submarine cable can be wound naturally around a drum 1.
