PURPOSE:To suppress always small the width of fluctuation in the molten metal level in a mold by detecting the fluctuation in the molten metal level in the mold, actuating an adjustment mechanism for the stopper opening of a tundish and adjusting finely and quickly the speed for supplying the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The signal of a detector 6 for the molten metal level in a mold 5 is inputted to a motor control circuit 4, and a mechanism 3 for adjusting an opening which changes the opening of a stopper 1 and a nozzle 21 is disposed in the body of a tundish 2. A desired opening is set with the mechanism, and a molten metal 10 is supplied from the nozzle 21 to the mold 5. The molten metal level is detected by the detector 6. The detection signal is inputted to the circuit 4 and a motor 33 is rotated at a prescribed angle to push and pull the point of force of a variable level 32 having a fulcrum on a stationary lever 31 thereby moving vertically and finely the operating point of the stopper 1 and adjusting the opening of the nozzle 1.
