METHOD FOR DISCRIMINATING GRAIN SIZE OF COKE IN RACEWAY IN BLAST FURNACE

PURPOSE:To eliminate effectively unnecessary noise and to measure grain sizes with high accuracy in the titled measurement for grain sizes by photographing luminance by utilizing the period in the inflow state of the charge condition directly above the raceway. CONSTITUTION:The luminance in a raceway changes cyclically as shwon in the figure, and since the cycle time T thereof corresponds to the charging intervals of the charge at the furnace top, said time is considered to correspond to the melt down in a root part. Thus, the large coke in the period d, d' when the dark and large coke flows into bright and small coke grains is the coke which is not burned at all in the raceway, and is the final coke which is influenced by the reaction in the furnace. Thereupon, if only the dark coke between d and d' is measured, the grain sizes of the coke in the furnace are measured exactly.
