The system provides resilient support for a scraper blade (2) applied at an angle to a conveyor belt, to reduce blade wear. The blade may be built onto a square section bar (30) spanning the heads of cantilevered leaf springs on each side of the belt and is thus capable of vertical deflection. - Two part recoil sprung sliding guides (4,6) secure the bar to the head of each spring, to take the transverse vector of friction generated blade loads. The guides may take the form of sliding sleeves of the same section as the bar and with bearings (16) in the interface, may house the bar and incorporate stops (25) with return springs (26). The attachment of the guide to the leaf spring may allow pivoting about a vertical axle (27).(3/3)
