A process for manufacture of esters of castor oil fatty acide directly from castoreseds comprising the step of solvent extraction of castorceeds with a lower homolgue of aliphatic alcohols like methanol, ethanol or the like at near room temperatures and pressures followed by treatment of the alcoholic miscella obtained thereby with an inter-esterification catalyst like the alcoholates, hydroxides,carbonates of alkali metals like potassium,sodium or lithium and subsequent distillation of the unreacted alcohol after neutralizationof the inter-esterification catalyst.
