Silo for mixing and/or homogenising different types of coal - has central hollow loading column, horizontal endless transporter and radial scraper transporter

The coal as used in power generating stations, may be of e.g. 3 different varieties and size. The silo effectively stores the coal at various levels and mixes the coal at required grading. The cylindrical silo (1) has side wall (2) and roof (3). Central in the silo is a column (4) with rotable intermediate support ring (5). Above the ring is the central loading chute (6) supplied by endless conveyor (7). From the intermediate ring, bridges (8,9) are supported at the inner wall top rail (10). The bridges support an endless conveyor belt (11). From one bridge (9), a third bridge is suspended by cables, to form a scraper transporter. The layered coal (A,B,C), after mixing, is discharged at the bottom of the column to be further horizontally moved, e.g. to the steam generators.
