The roof covering has, between dividing walls (4) of two adjacent e.g. semi-detached dwellings, a row of edge tiles (3) against a row of standard tiles (2). The gap between the two tile rows is filled with inserts of the same size as the tiles, and made of asbestos bitumen, deformable plastics or synthetic rubber. Pref., a plasticised or bituminised woven material is used. When fitting the material, protrusions are formed which hook over adjacent tile battens.
