1. A process permitting, in the winter season, the application and the polymerization of paints and coatings at a predetermined temperature higher than the ambient temperature, for the interior coating of ship tanks or cisterns, characterized, in that it comprises enveloping the outer walls (2-20) of the tanks (1) to be treated with a layer (4) of a thermally insulating material constituted by polyurethane foam in the form of panels (6) of in the sprayed form (10) and heating the interior of said tanks and the volumes defined by the adjacent chambers for maintaining in the latter a sufficient temperature during the application and the polymerization of the paint (3) or of the coating.
