In a process for the prodn. of agents with antiinflammatory activity from Matricaria chamomilla, (a) the diploid chamomile variet ''Degumill'' is tetraploidised, (b) the tetraploidised plants are selected and further propagated, and (c) the flowers are harvester at the stage when 30-100% of the ray-florets of a flowering head are open and dried at not more than 60 deg.C to give a dry material contg. at least 120 mg% chamazulene, at least 200 mg% (-)-alpha-bisabold and less than 50 mg% of other bisaboloids.
