A directly hydraulically spread roof support for mining, in particular a shield-type support, which has at least one pair of expanding arms (3, 4) pivotably connected to the horn (2) and the bed plate (1), which arms are pivotably connected together at their free ends in such manner that they form a tilted V-shape, the spreading arms being spreadable by means of a hydraulic cylinder (5) against the horn or against the bed plate, characterised in that the hydraulic cylinder (5) is arranged between the spreading arms (3, 4) and the ends of the hydraulic cylinder are connected to the spreading arms (3, 4) at arbitrary points of their length.
