OPERATOR INTERCHANGEABLE GEAR DRIVEN PLATEN ANDPLATEN DRIVE MECHANISM FOR TYPEWRITERS AND PRINTERSAbstract of the InventionA support for an idler gear is pivotally mountedabout the driving gear axis in a gear driven platendrive for a typewriter. A constraining membermounted with the interchangeable platen engages andconstrains the support in a position to insureengagement of the idler with the platen gear andmay be sized or shaped to insure proper positioningof the support and idler for a number of differentplaten gears of varying diameters, allowing platensand platen gears to be readily changed to vary theline feed increment as desired by the operator.
