ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA clamping system for preventing detrimentaltensile and shearing stresses in brick wall plates used forexample as partitions in industrial furnaces, comprisesclamping plates adjoining opposite end faces of the wallplate, yoke-shaped beams facing each clamping plate andinterconnected by cross tie rods, and pressing elementsbetween the beams and the clamping plates. The bias ofthe pressing elements is adjusted so as to decrease fromthe center of the clamping plate towards the upper andlower edges of the wall plate, the material of respectiveclamping elements being selected such as to keep the inter-fering forces within the limits of 5 to 20% of the originalclamping forces, the resultants of the clamping forces beingdirected to the marginal area of each clamping plate, andthe roughness in excess of 2.5 millimeters between the clamp-ing plate and the brick wall plate being reliably compen-sated.
