ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE:A class of alkyl-substituted angular fluro-coumarins, sometimes termed alkylangelicins, useful in thephotochemotherapy of psoriasis and in other skin diseasescharacterized by cellular hyperproliferation or lack ofskin pigmentation is disclosed for topical application orsystemic administration. Compared with conventional psoralensthe described compounds exhibit a lower risk of skin cancer,absence of phototoxicity problems anderithema to the patientso treated. One preferred compound is 5-methylangelicin.
