PHN. 9736 49ABSTRACT:A multi-source/receiver data processing systemcomprising a communication bus which consists of at leastone transfer medium. Clock signal generators have diffe-rent tolerances with respect to each other. In order toprevent sources and/or receivers having a slow clock sig-nal generator from being excluded as rightful participantsfrom an action concerning a communication, there are pro-vided means whereby it can be determined whether said busis "ready" for executing said action. The means comprisefirst and second detecting means whereby it can be deter-mined that the communication bus is "ready" during a firstand a second period of time, respectively. When an activeparticipant determines that this second period of time hasexpired, the bus is indeed ready for this active partici-pant and all further active participant which have mean-while determined during their first period of time thatthe bus is ready, so the bus can be occupied by this action.A data source and/or data receiver may be a programmeddigital signal processor.
