-23-ABSTRACT:" A SYSTEM FOR THE CONTROL OF TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITYWITHIN A GREENHOUSE"A system for the control of temperature andhumidity in a greenhouse relies on a heat pump andvarious sensors for the measurement of temperatureand relative humidity both inside and outside thegreenhouse. Conditions inside and outside thegreenhouse are analysed to fall within a particularclass and the classes of weather conditions arematched to provide an appropriate control strategyfor the greenhouse. The purpose of the inventionis to provide for the optimisation of the extractionof useful heat by means of refrigerative de-humidificationof the greenhouse and to utilise this heat to minimisethe amount of supplementary heat required for thegreenhouse, or as a heat source for other heating purposes.It is also the purpose of the invention to provide forthe optimisation of the extraction of purified (distilled)water from water supplied to the plants.ARGH/BMS
