ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE:A method and an arrangement are disclosed for determiningthe amount of slag present in a tundish during the continu-ous casting of a metal melt. The metal melt flows from areservoir covered with a slag layer into a tundish coveredwith a slag layer and from there into a mould, the totalweight of the tundish being continuously checked. The heightof the respective metal-melt bath level present in the tun-dish or the height of the slag bath level present in thetundish is determined and from the relation of one of thesevalues to the total weight of the tundish the slag amountpresent in the tundish is evaluated.
