Monoclonal antibody specific for human blood group antigen D (Rh0), and reactive in a direct agglutination test, and hybridoma cell lines procuding these monoclonal antibodies

Monoclonal antibodies which, in the direct agglutination assay, are specific for human blood group antigen D (Rh0) and hybridoma cell lines which produce these monoclonal antibodies can be prepared by immunising animals, especially mice, with human D-positive erythrocytes and fusing the spleen cells obtained from these animals with animal, especially mouse, myeloma cells with the formation of a hybridoma. The hybridomas are cultured as clones, and the antibodies obtained from the individual clones are tested for their specificity against the blood group characteristic D in human erythrocytes. Clones which produce antibodies with a specificity against the blood group characteristic D of human erythrocytes are selected for further culturing to prepare the antibody, the antibody being obtained from the culture medium or the ascites fluids of the animal, especially the mouse, which carries the hybridoma tumour.
