Indeno[1,2-b]pyrrole derivatives represented by the general formula (I), wherein R¹ represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or carbamoylmethyl, R² represents halogen or trifluoromethyl, R³ represents hydrogen or halogen, and X represents 0 or S. They are useful as brain function- improving agents, antispasmodics, antiepileptics, tranquilizers, etc.
