Bone char and granular activated carbon composition for decolorizing and deliming sucrose solution

Bone char, contg. 1030% activated carbon, generated a syrup effluent color quality equiv. to that obtained by bone char alone, with up to a 20% color breakthrough level, but with an extended service life: it also reduced the ash in cane suger syrups by 40%. The regereration of the spent bone char-activated carbon mixt. at 538C resulted in the recovery of 95% of the original decolorization capacity.
