METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADDING AND MIXING SECOND COHESIVE POWDERS IN A FLUIDIZED BED BLENDER

Homogenising a mixt. of powder constituents comprises (a) introduction of a first powder into a sealed container; (b) fluidising the first powder; (c) introduction of the second powder under pressure by impinging it against a deflector plate inside the fluidised bed to disperse it uniformly into the first powder. The appts. is esp. for mixing uranium dioxide with a second oxide component having, hydrophobic, hydrophilic or hygroscopic properties. Greatly improved mixing is effected.
