The speed or feed control circuit is for a stepping motor. It has a VCO (11) whose output is connected to the motor (15). It is also connected via a preselectable frequency divider (16) with a setting element (17) to the first input of a phase detector (19). The detector has a second input (20) which is connected to a pulse generator (21) and its output is connected via an LP filter (22) to the VCO input. The setting element is a digitally-coding switch and the pulse generator produces rectangular pulses.
