Method of cultivating a fungus of the class Basidiomycetes consists of culturing the fungus on a conventional medium contG. -1 straight-chain satd. aliphatic alcohols CnH2n+1OH (I) Where n = 26-36. Use of (I) in the culture medium markedly promotes the growth of Basidiomycetes, and also the differentiation and organization of the cells. In addn., the method affords high quality mycelia at a high rate. Basidiomycetes are useful in producing medicines and health foods, etc.
