The method for automatic order acceptance using a telecommunications exchange, in particular a telephone exchange, consists in that some of the telephone numbers available to extensions in a telephone PABX system with direct dialling-in are designated as identification numbers for customers. These numbers are stored in a memory of the data processing system and possibly also in a memory of the telephone PABX system. The telephone numbers dialled into the telephone PABX system from the public network are checked to ascertain whether they are contained in one of the memories. If a match is identified, an automatic order acceptance is carried out in such a way that the data processing system produces a printout on which customer information, date, time and, where appropriate, order type are noted. The calling subscriber then receives a return message containing a confirmation of the order.
