To improve the resistance to ageing and the preparability of cosmetic sunscreen compositions with a light protection factor of more than 5, a sulphonamide which is readily soluble in water is used in an amount between 1 and 5 % as active sunscreen agent. The agent dissolves readily in pure water at a pH of 7.
