The oven has an oven housing (11) comprising heating and cooling zones, in which a transport device (16) for the workpieces (10) passing through the oven is arranged. The oven is designed as an annular oven with a single, closable charging and discharging opening (15) and has a lifting-beam transport device (16), hermetically sealing the underside of the annular oven, for interaction in the oven. The lifting-beam transport device (16) is formed by an annular lifting beam (19) and a plurality of spokes (21) which are rotatable about an upright axis, carry the lifting beam (19) with height adjustment by interposed lifting gears (22) and rotate stepwise to and fro, preferably within a defined swivelling angle range (X).
