The invention relates to a process for the attachment by a casting technique of a tin lid with folding hinge to the handle of a beer mug, in which an attachment part ending at the upper end in the folding hinge is cast around the cover. To save work steps in the production process and furthermore to improve the quality of the casting and its durability, the invention provides that the part of the folding hinge on the side of the lid is prefabricated separately together with the lid mounting and if necessary the lid, and is coated with heat-resistant plastics at the hinge end, and is then inserted into a casting mould which simultaneously embraces the handle of the beer mug. The attachment part with its end embracing the handle and with the folding hinge part is then produced in a single cast and thus attaches the tin lid, together with the folding hinge, to the handle.
