In a method for measuring the speed of biaxial, all-wheel-drive tractors, in particular for agriculture, having disconnectable front- wheel drive, it is proposed that during the traction work with all-wheel drive, the front-wheel drive is briefly interrupted and in this case the tractive force of the tractor is measured in common with the speeds of its front and rear wheels. The driving force coefficient/slip characteristic corresponding to the respective ground conditions is established from the measured values determined or is selected from a prescribed family of curves, and the slip assigned to the driving force coefficient in the case of all-wheel drive is determined with the aid of this characteristic. This renders it possible for the speed of biaxial, all-wheel-drive tractors to be measured in a simple way and with relatively simple means. IMAGE
