The waste treatment apparatus for clarification of dirty water from water systems of relatively small mobile or stationary dwellings or workplaces is characterised by at least one pipe having a top inlet opening and a top outlet opening for the passage and the clarification of waste water, a clarifying medium contacting the waste water being contained in the pipe. The inlet and outlet openings are preferably provided with filling and discharge connection pieces. For filling the pipe 2 with clarifying medium, the pipe is provided at the top with a plurality of closable filling openings. The contacting medium used is gravel chips and wood charcoal. In the waste treatment apparatus fed with waste water, the impurity in the waste water flocculates out as a result of the long passageway on the large surface area contact of the contacting medium. The purified water is fed to the soil in an environmentally friendly manner at the site of the caravan or the like.
