Tetrabromobisphenol A bis(dibromopropyl) ether or hexabromocyclododecane which are contaminated with small amounts of unsaturated compounds are stabilised with a polymeric epoxide and discolourations during the processing of thermoplastics which are fireproofed by tetrabromobisphenol A bis(dibromopropyl) ether or hexabromocyclododecane are thereby avoided.
