The security strap may be used on doors, shutters or similar and discourages access from without. The strap comprises a length of rectangular section metal bar (1) with curled ends (2) and longitudinal slots (5) at the quarter points or thereabouts. A handle (4) is included together with two pivotable hooks (3). The trajectory of each hook (3) effects a vertical bisection of the respective slots (5). The strap (1) may be used spanning the vertical interface between a door and a fixed frame post. Horizontally projecting staples with eyelets are fixed to the door and the post respectively, and the strap is mounted by threading the slots (5) onto the staples. The hooks (3) are then pivoted to engage the staples and the assembly is complete.
