A tool with low voltage terminals for accepting shaped wires or blades for hot cutting of plastics materials is fitted with terminal extension rods of which at least one has a cranked form so that the width between the terminal connections can be adjusted to suit various cutting head sizes by rotating the extension rod(s). Pref. the extension rods can also accept a clamp for holding a guide bar to control the distance by which the cutting head rides beneath the face of the material being cut. The power head thus becomes very versatile.
