The modular carton, mounted on a palette and particularly suitable for fruit or vegetables, consists sides and ends retained between a top cover and a base. The whole can then be secured by strapping. One side can consist of a flat panel, and the two ends are the other side can be a second sheet, bent at two points and with short end flanges. The top and bottom are simply rectangular trays which fit over the panels. All these an be made of cardboard, and the palette made of wood. To suit refrigerated equipment, the base has a pattern of slots through it for ventilation.
