A transformer with a variable output voltage, which is achieved by controlling the stray flux. It will provide better voltage stabilisation of a source. The transformer will handle pulse voltages. The magnetic core (1) is made up from E or I-shaped stamping to provide a main magnetic circuit with an air gap. There is a subsidiary magnetic circuit which has a wound control winding to regulate the flux of this circuit. The primary and secondary windings are around the main magnetic circuit of the core. The air gap is filled with a spacer disc made from a non-magnetic material to increase the energy store.
