Aq. nutrient soln. for cut flowers - contains saccharose, glucose, citric acid, sodium benzoate and formaldehyde

Nutrient soln. which extends the life of cut flowers contains- saccharose (100 g), glucose (100 g), citric acid (25 g), sodium benzoate (0.7 g), formaldehyde (7 ml) and H2O (to make up 1000 ml). Bracketted quantities are pref. amts. (plus-or-minus 10%). The soln. pref. also contains a bactericide. The soln. is colourless, so does not spoil the appearance of flowers in the vase. It has pH 4-4.5 which prevents the growth of bacteria and yeasts.
