The hydraulic jack (1) is for use with tractors and other agricultural machinery when working on soft ground. The piston (2) of the jack is fixed to a large rectangular plate (3) with raised edges (3a) and diagonal stiffening ribs. The cylinder (4) fits over the piston and has a load bearing platform (5) attached to its upper end. A second load bearing platform (8) is attached to the cylinder (4) near its lower end for dealing with loads with a low ground clearance. The jack is supplied with hydraulic fluid through a pipe (6) controlled by a valve (7).
