Flow line coupling to offshore well head - by rope between flowline gland and coupling piece on hauling tool

A flow line which is lowered from a vessel to the sea bed is coupled to an offshore well head by a tool which is lowered from the drilling barge to the well head and has forks to fit behind collars at the two sockets which are to be joined. The force to haul the flow line socket into the well head socket is exerted by a rope which passes through a coupling piece to a gland at the end of the flow line. This enables all movements to be remote controlled from the drilling barge. The hauling tool can be raised when the work is completed and can be re-used without having to leave parts on the sea bed.
