The steel sheets (1) have a network of connectors (3) held at one end by the sheets while the body of the connector and its free end are cast into the concrete, the lines of connectors being parallel to the reinforcing bars (4). The sheet steel forms a partial shutter to the concrete and can be folded at its ends to form partial end shutters. The connectors are in both the tension and the compression zone of the beam so that the sheet steel covers and joins both, and during bending the longitudinal shear engendered by the reinforcing bars is equalised from zone to zone across the sheet.
