Memory register for magnetic propagation storage - comprises soft magnetic layer with hard layer forming propagating path

A register for a memory operating with magnetic propagation comprises a soft magnetic layer on which areas of a hard magnetic layer are placed to from a propagating path. This results in low current consumption in the writing conductor. The write output (21) at the end of a propagation channel (22) and at a write conductor (23) is located at the same level as the shift conductor. This output section has two side contacts (24,25) formed at the sides (26,27) and which are parallel to the write conductor. Negative and positive charges accummulate respectively on these contacts to generate permanently a magnetostatic field (31) which is shifted by 90 degrees w.r.t. the magnetising vector (30) of the hard magnetic layer. A write current generates another field (32) and the two combine (33) to write a bit into the register.
