The switch selectively connects at least one incident optical fibre (f(e)) with one of a pair of outgoing fibres (f(S1),f(S2)). The device has two support elements (2,3) which are fixed to each other by a plane surface on which are disposed the incident optical fibre and the pair of outgoing fibres. A movable plate (4) is placed between the two support elements (2,3), and has two predetermined stable positions (I,II). The plate supports intermediate fibres (f(i1),f(i2)) of which one (f(i1)) provides the coupling between the incident and outgoing fibre when the plate is in one of its stable positions. In its other position, the plate connects the two fibres (f(S2),f(e)) via the other (f(i2)) of the intermediate fibres. The movable plate (4) may be displaced either manually or by electromagnetic devices.
